MCQ Bridging Courses

The Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) Bridging Course is a 6 week full-time intensive program consisting of tutorials and lectures on:

  • Medicine
  • Surgery
  • Paediatrics
  • Psychiatry
  • Obstetrics & Gynaecology
  • PLUS MCQ Language Support
  • PLUS MCQ Trial Exam Workshops

The tutorials are held at various hospitals throughout Melbourne so some travelling is involved.

As part of the course requirement, candidates make presentations to the group and to tutors on the subjects covered. Additional emphasis is placed on appropriate use of language in a professional medical setting.

Two MCQ Trial Exam Workshops are conducted as part of the MCQ Bridging Course.

The Workshops are computer based and aid candidates in their preparation for the AMC MCQ exams. They are held at the beginning and end of each course and give international medical graduates an opportunity to discuss problems they might be encountering. They also provide the candidates with an opportunity to gauge their level of language proficiency and medical knowledge in comparison with others.

In addition, candidates are given an opportunity to discuss problems in the areas of Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Psychiatry and Obstetrics & Gynaecology with a local medical practitioner.

The computer based trial exam workshops are designed to assist in the preparation for the AMC MCQ exam by providing:

  • Experience in a computer based exam environment
  • Instruction on how to approach the MCQs
  • Detailed explanations of questions given by a medical practitioner
  • Instruction on study techniques
  • Language of the MCQs
