English RequirementsEnglish Language Proficiency is a formal requirement for registration in Australia through the State/Territory Medical Boards. International English Language Testing System (IELTS)The IELTS test consists of separate Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking sections. It is administered by IELTS Australia and The British Council at over 230 centres worldwide. To meet the English Language Proficiency Requirements candidates are required to obtain a minimum score of 7 in each of the four components of the Academic module. IELTS Australia Occupational English Test (OET)The OET is conducted in four parts, consisting of separate Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking sections. The OET is held several times a year in Australia and in Australian migration offices overseas. To meet the English Language Proficiency Requirements candidates are required to pass the OET for medical practitioners with grades of A or B in each of the four components.
